Ubisoft tried to fill the E3 bases today, batting third in the press conference (2:30 p.m. PT, July 15, 2008) batting order following Nintendo and Sony.
The company trie dto play it a bit more gamer-y, having Ubisoff America's President, Laurent Detoc, sitting on the stage and playing with his, er, I mean, a Wii. In addition to a couple big action games including Far Cry 2, Prince of Persia and I Am Alive, most of the games seem a bit more geared toward girl gamers, including a new “Ener-G” line.
Here's a quick recap gathered from a few of the Live Blogs on the internet:
- Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party was demonstrated for the Wii (“‘It is my favorite in the Rayman Raving Rabbids series,' he says with his heavy French accent,” says Joystiq). It appears to also be balance board compatible. (November 2008; Wii, DS). You'll be able to throw snowballs at each other.
- Brothers in Arms: Hells Highway, coming in September 2008 by Gearbox with rather impressive graphics.
- Ubisoft is working on some in-game voice recognition to boss around troops in various games like Tom Clancy's End War which looks to be all (or primarily) voice controlled.
- Far Cry 2 is set in 50 square miles of explorable Africa, is coming Fall 2008 and Detoc calls it “First Person Shooter 2.0” (ugh).
- Senior VP of Sales and Marketing, Tony Key, announced the “Games for Girls” initiative with six games (all DS) specifically meant to lure in unsuspecting female tweens. Look for more Petz games, tie-in Petz toys and “Ener-G” line of sports games. Other games include Imagine: Movie Star and Imagine: New York Fashion Designer.
- Game producer Louie LaMarche, Phillippe Morin and Scott Mitchell showed off the Xbox 360 version of Shaun White Snowboarding. Go “Big Red.”
- A Prince of Persia game trailer was shown.
- I Am Alive (a la I Am Legend) was teased with a trailer
