'Resistance: Burning Skies' Rated "M" for Mature by ESRB Links : Comments | Forum Topic | Posted by Matt Stanyon | Date : Tuesday 15th May 2012 @ 22:30 PM GMT
After Resistance: Burning Skies for the PlayStation Vita went gold last week, Sony sent the title to the US ratings board, the ESRB for certification, who has decided to give the game an M for Mature rating, which means that it can't be sold to anyone under the age of 17.
Check out the screencap of the rating below :
The ESRB have also released some more extensive details for Resistance: Burning Skies, which you can read below :
Content Descriptors : Blood and Gore, Strong Language, Violence
Rating Summary : This is a first-person shooter in which players assume the role of Tom Riley, a New Jersey firefighter caught in the middle of an alien invasion. Players use machine guns, assault rifles, crossbow-shotguns, explosives, and alien weaponry to kill enemy creatures in frenetic combat; a fireman's axe can also be used to dispatch enemies at close range. Blood-splatter effects and screaming sounds occur when characters are shot or slashed, and realistic gunfire can be heard throughout. Headshots can decapitate enemies, and some weapons cause aliens to explode into bloody gibs. In one cutescene, players' character pulls a large piece of shrapnel from the chest of a wounded scientist, whose body is covered in blood. The words “f**k” and “sh*t” can be heard in the dialogue.
Online Notice : Includes online features that may expose players to unrated user-generated content (PS Vita)
Resistance: Burning Skies for the PlayStation Vita releases in North America on 29th May 2012, in Europe on 30th May 2012, and in the UK on 1st June 2012, with Sony claiming that the game is “the world's first portable dual-analog FPS”. Sadly, this could very well be the last Resistance game, now that franchise-founder Insomniac Games has left the series. If it is the final Resistance, let's just hope the game goes out with a bang.
