'Ghost Recon: Commander Now Live & Out Now Links : Comments | Forum Topic | Posted by Matt Stanyon | Date : Monday 21st May 2012 @ 10:00 AM GMT
Ghost Recon Commander, the new social game from industry veteran Brenda Brathwaite, is now live on Facebook. Developed by Loot Drop, the social company founded by Brathwaite and long time collaborator John Romero, the game is described as a “strategic combat experience that challenges everything you know about Facebook games”.
It's a free-to-play, isometric tactical combat game in which players develop their own Ghost, "an elite Special Forces operator utilizing stealth, firepower and exciting near-future technology to take command of the battlefield against impossible odds", as you embark on one of ten replayable missions. There are three difficulty levels, dozens of weapons to pick up and asynchronous co-op multiplayer that lets you call in help from friends.
Playing will also enable gamers to unlock exclusive weapons, weapon skins and bonuses to use in Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and Ghost Recon Online. This sounds like more than marketing hyperbole; because originally, Brathwaite outlined her design philosophy as “I don't want to visit my friends. I want to kill them”. You can get more information from the app page, too.
Ghost Recon Commander is the latest of Ubisoft's tie-in efforts; an experimental, internally-developed Assassin's Creed Facebook boasted cross-game mechanics with Brotherhood, and won reasonable praise.
Brenda Brathwaite, lead game designer at developer Loot Drop, said :
"As a long time fan of the Ghost Recon franchise, I wanted to make a game that would appeal to me both as a fan and a gamer. Ghost Recon Commander highlights the tactical gameplay that fans of the series will enjoy in a social environment that's accessible to all types of gamers."

Ubisoft Partners with GUNNAR Optiks for 'Ghost Recon: Future Soldier' Links : Comments | Forum Topic | Posted by Matt Stanyon | Date : Friday 18th May 2012 @ 10:00 AM GMT
Ubisoft has announced a partnership with GUNNAR Optiks, to bring a selection of Ghost Recon: Future Soldier branded glasses to opticians throughout North America. GUNNAR Optiks are high tech computer eyewear designed to protect, enhance and optimize your vision.
The problem is you spend most of your waking hours glued to your computer screen, smart phone, tablet or TV monitor. As the hours go by, you subject your eyes to harsh, high intensity blue light and glare from your screen. Constant viewing of digital screens can create visual stress, eye fatigue, dry eyes, irritation, and even headaches, leading to an obvious conclusion – staring at a computer for long hours can take a toll on your eyes.
The solution is that GUNNARS increase contrast, comfort and focus while minimizing eye fatigue and visual stress for anyone who spends long hours staring at digital screens. GUNNAR eyewear is powered by i-AMP lens technology comprised of a proprietary lens material in an advanced geometry tuned for intermediate viewing distance and finished with custom formulated lens filters, tints and coatings.
